Mid Carolina Healthcare Preparedness Coalition

Over the last several years the Mid Carolina Disaster Preparedness Subcommittee (DPC) has grown significantly in scope and practice to the degree that it now must stand alongside the RAC as a leader and guide within our region and should now be referred to as the Mid Carolina Healthcare Preparedness Coalition (HPC).

The mission of the Mid Carolina HPC is to facilitate cohesiveness, coordination and cooperation throughout the region to ensure stakeholders have the capability to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergency health and medical events.

The preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities and capacities of the Mid Carolina region are dependent upon the partnerships forged between hospitals, emergency medical services, emergency management, public health, private businesses, and other entities at the local, state, and national level. Development of the Mid Carolina Healthcare Preparedness Coalition promotes the most efficient use of equipment, assets, and resources throughout the region and state of North Carolina.

The Mid Carolina HPC provides coordination of ESF-8 (Health & Medical) resources and management of federal ASPR and Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) funding which provides assessments, equipment, training, and exercise opportunities to bolster the region’s healthcare and medical response capabilities to emergency events.
